We leave Saturday for a week at Camp Michigania East, a family camp for U-Michigan alumni. We're returning for a third year because it's the best family vacation we've taken. The facility is beautiful and tranquil. During the day the kids are in their own camp programs and the grownups are free: to play tennis, go sailing, read, exercise, or sit around and have an uninterrupted conversation. The food is merely adequate, but it means a whole week of no cooking and no cleaning up! At night other activities are offered, such as hay rides and a bonfire (with s'mores, of course) at the horse farm, a family movie, or a slide lecture. It is fun and relaxing.
The day camp ends we will hustle down to Cape Cod for a week in a rented house in Falmouth. My parents will visit us there for a couple of days. We must, must, must have beach weather.
